Whatβs on in the Cotswolds - more reasons to stay in Kingham, May 2024
In the first of a monthly blog on what's on in Kingham and the surrounding area, this time we kick off with May. It's a great time to plan a weekend away stay in the Cotswolds, with spring flowers well and truly blooming and vibrant colours all over Oxfordshire.
It's a double bank holiday month, which means there is loads of reasons to visit the Cotswold area!
No staycation in Oxfordshire is complete without a trip to Daylesford. For the dog lovers among you, their inaugural dog event is on Saturday 4th May. Expect multiple competitions such as 'dog most like owner' and plenty of treats for pets (grooming) and owners (cocktails) alike! Even you can't make this, Daylesford is a great place to grab a coffee, treat yourself to some excellent produce or stay for a few hours and people watch!
Over at the Golden Ball pub in Lower Swell, there is a Sunday Sessions on Sunday 5th May, where you can listen to the stunning Laura Ball after your lunch. As they say, this is as "Cotswolds as it gets"!
In Kingham, just a few minutes walk from our holiday rental, we have the Plough's farmer's market on Sunday 5th May. It's a great event, supporting local produce and there's plenty for children and families. If you want to book a table at the Plough, make sure you get that reservation in soon as they're sure to be fully booked on the day!
At the end of May, the incredible Rosie Holt is performing live at the Chipping Norton theatre. Rosie's spoof interviews posing as an MP have received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe and some high profile fans going viral on social media. Stay at our holiday let and make the short drive to Chipping Norton to catch her show live on Friday 31st May.
Can you even believe we're talking about festival season? Well yes, if you want to catch some incredible bands at the Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham from Friday 31st May, there's no better time to get involved! Texas, Ocean Colour Scene and The Future Heads all play as well as some family favourites such as Hacker T Dog, Barrioke and Sabrina.
